ARIEL SCHLESINGER GRAFFITI PRINTER PROJECT

Jun 24, 2010

+ ariel is an israeli artist who created a five-spray can mechanism that can print words, similar to an inkjet printer, on solid surfaces. the graffiti printer inputs information using paper punch cards and each card is perforated with the desired output text, written in five lines of pixels, and is read by the machine as it moves. this was actually designed for the "one graffiti-printer per child", which is a non-profit association dedicated to research to develop a $100 graffiti-printer to help educate the world.

+ "adidas’s jabulani is faster, more stable in flight and spin and an additional goose bump-like micro-structure on the ball surface does not only break the water film under wet conditions, but creates better grip for goalkeepers’ hands and players’ feet."

ENERGY TRANSPORTATION DEVICE

Feb 11, 2010

+ Everything takes one step at a time and now we are slowly getting closer to energy transportation. If you don't know what this is it's the ability to transport anything from one place to another in an instant (like the Star Trek Transporter). Recently a physicist at Tohoku University in Japan has figured out how to teleport energy from one point in the universe to another. There's a lot of science and physics involved so read below for his theory. Get excited because once we figure out energy transportation we probably wont need airplanes, trains, or cars to travel around the world; and next on the list is how to travel back in time (I watch a lot of movies).

THIS SHOW IS REAL TALK

Feb 8, 2010

+ Definitely my new favorite show by HBO, How To Make It In America. The first episode made a deep impression on me with the presence of Kid Cudi, reference to Damien Hirst, awesome soundtrack, true hustle that goes in New York (that little kid reminded me of 'me' when i used to also sell candy back in grade school for me and not no boys scouts), and just the life of one of the main characters, Ben Epstein, played by Bryan Greenburg. It's premiering on HBO this Sunday Feb 14, BUT HBO has put the full first episode on YouTube.

SOME HAVE TRIED BUT FAILED

Jan 23, 2010

+ You think superheroes dont exist then you're wrong. For three years now the Red Bull team, Felix Baumgartner and legend Joe Kittinger have been planning to break the human sound barrier record. Captain Joe Kittinger is the current record holder when he jumped in 1960 from 102,800 feet in space and free fell at 614 miles per hour. A few others have tried but failed, some even dying. This year daredevil Felix Baumgartner is hoping to beat the record by going up over 120,000 feet in a stratospheric balloon, then free-fall toward the earth at supersonic speeds before parachuting to the ground.

I THOUGHT I ONLY HAD THIS PROBLEM

Jan 21, 2010

+ I remember in grade school through high school I always tended to write slanted. It was always more comfortable for me to write this way. Now it appears my college experience has fixed this habit, but why couldn't someone have invented this back in the day. Designer/Industrial Designer Matt Brown is responsible for this slanted-notebook idea. Currently, he is living in Genova, Italy and graduated from the IXD Masters course at the Umea Institute of Design. Now all he has to do is sell this idea to Five-Star so they can put this on the market.

HOW MUCH WOOD WOULD A WOOD CHUCK WOOD?

Jan 16, 2010

+ Scientists in Italy were able to transform wood into an effective material very similar to the human bone. It took ten days under pressure and heat in a furnace for the wood to become a chalky porous material with bone-like properties. This is definitely beneficial news for people suffering from bone loss or traumatic injuries. It may also eliminate the current process of adding metal to replace bones. Now all we need to do is plant more trees.
