Oct 9, 2012

Mary Weatherford spent several weeks in Bakersfield, California to produce a series of seven paintings entitled “The Bakersfield Project." The Bakersfield Paintings were inspired by the city, past and present: California Water Wars, The Grapes of Wrath, the Bakersfield Sound, Tule Fog, the Killer Kern, and big oil all served as points of departure for her most recent work. You can catch Mary Weatherford’s Bakersfield Paintings at LAXART Gallery One before it closes on October 27 2012.
